Perform Drama, Dance & Singing Classes

Perform's Friday afternoon class at Kingston Quaker Centre is for children aged 4 to 7, running from 4pm to 5pm each week during term time. The current term runs from 17 April to 17 July, with no session on Friday 29 May. This summer the class is working through the theme of Mermaids & Pirates — setting sail on the good ship the Jammy Dodger to discover faraway lands, as Perform puts it — which gives shape to all the songs, games and dances for the term.

Each session is built around three sections. Move & Feel opens with dances, rapid-reaction games and yoga-inspired exercises that develop coordination, balance and core stability. Listen, Speak & Sing follows, using specially composed songs, tongue-twisters and raps to build confidence and communication. Create & Imagine rounds things off with character explorations, storytelling and role-play improvisations. Every week has a different focus, and because Perform runs a rolling curriculum, children can join at any point without waiting for the start of a new term.

The class is run by Producer Emily and Teacher Georgia, and is regularly visited by Area Partner Sophie. Class sizes are capped at 22 children, with two Perform staff members present throughout. Perform started running classes at this Kingston venue in September 2024. At the end of each term parents receive a personalised written feedback form, and the Producer sends a weekly email noting that week's focus — useful if you want a clear picture of what your child has been working on.
