Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at Great Chart Village Hall divides its Friday morning into two age-specific sessions: 9:45–10:45am for ages from birth to 13 months, and 11:15am–12:45pm for ages from birth to 13 months. Both run under the Baby Sensory Ashford & Maidstone franchise. On-site parking takes the stress out of arrival, and full baby-change facilities are available inside the hall.

Each session follows a carefully structured lesson plan — not simply songs and shakers, but a considered sequence in which every activity has been designed to engage what your baby touches, sees, hears, smells and feels. You might move from tummy time and texture play through to sensory signing and movement songs, before the room quiets and your baby is soothed by sounds that mimic the womb. The sensory layout is deliberately arranged to match the distance at which young babies see objects clearly, and every instrument used has been measured to ensure it sits at a safe decibel level for small ears.

The programme was conceived as much for parents as for babies. Developed by Dr Lin Day — whose research into early child development spans more than four decades — it hands you a working library of activities you can repeat at home. Sessions are also a genuine space to meet other parents at the same stage of life. Feeding and cuddling during class are entirely welcome; the class is designed around babies, not the other way round. Terms run up to ten weeks at £6.50 per session, and booking is made through the Baby Sensory website.
