Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory classes at Lindsey Street Community Association in Epping run on Tuesdays, with three sessions to choose from: a mixed-ages slot at 10:00–10:45 for ages from birth to 13 months, an older babies session at 11:00–11:45 for those aged 6–13 months, and a younger babies session at 12:00–12:45 for newborns up to 6 months. Each 45-minute class follows a detailed lesson plan designed to engage everything a baby touches, sees, hears, smells, and feels. You can expect a mix of creative play, tummy time, gentle movement, visual development, textured objects, scents, and music. Original and traditional songs and rhymes are woven through the session to support early speech and language, and sensory signing activities give babies and parents a way to communicate even before words arrive. The room layout is arranged to match the distance at which a young baby focuses clearly, and the instruments used have been checked to sit at safe decibel levels for infant hearing. Sessions close with sounds that echo the womb — a calm wind-down built into every class.

The programme was designed as much for parents as for babies. It gives you a practical library of activities — massage, movement games, sensory play — that you can repeat at home during the week. Turning up on Tuesdays also gives you a regular reason to get out and meet other families in Epping at the same stage, in an environment where feeding or cuddling your baby mid-session is actively welcomed.
