Baby Sensory

St Wilfrid's Parish Hall on Duchy Road is a well-used community space in central Harrogate — one of several venues where Natalie Ramsay runs Baby Sensory sessions across Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby. Classes cover the main Baby Sensory programme for ages from birth to 13 months, with a separate Hello Baby strand for newborns from birth to three months. Natalie came to Baby Sensory following a career in teaching, which shows in the way sessions are structured: purposeful, varied, and with a clear eye on what a parent can take home and repeat.

Each session follows a detailed lesson plan working through what your baby touches, sees, hears, smells and feels. Instruments are checked to ensure they are not too loud for young ears, and the sensory space is laid out at the precise distance a baby naturally focuses on. Activities — tummy time, textured objects, movement play, baby massage, scents and music — are each designed to move development forward rather than simply fill the hour. Every session opens with Baby Sensory's signature song, 'Say Hello to the Sun', and closes by mimicking the sounds of the womb to help babies settle. Songs and rhymes run throughout to support early speech and language, alongside sensory signing to help parent and baby communicate from the very start.

The programme was built as a parenting resource rather than purely a baby class, so you leave each session with a growing bank of ideas to use between visits. The hall at St Wilfrid's also hosts other family activities through the week — La Leche League and Toddler Sensory among them — so it already functions as a friendly gathering point for parents in the HG1 area.
