Baby Sensory

Dale Street Methodist Church hosts Baby Sensory Warwickshire's Leamington Spa Tuesday sessions, run by Gemma as part of her South Warwickshire franchise covering Leamington, Warwick, and Stratford-upon-Avon. Four slots run through the day — 10:00, 11:15, 12:45, and 14:00, each lasting 50 minutes. The 10:00–10:50 and 14:00–14:50 classes are mixed ages (0–13 months); the 11:15–12:05 slot is for older babies (6–13 months); and the 12:45–13:35 class focuses on younger babies (0–9 months). All are term time only.

A Baby Sensory session is structured around your baby's natural play-rest-play cycle, so the pace ebbs and flows rather than barrelling from one activity to the next. Each class weaves together creative play, tummy time, massage, movement, textures, and scent exploration alongside a mix of original and traditional songs and rhymes. The original music was composed by Dr Lin Day — the programme's founder — and includes songs such as 'Say Hello to the Sun' and 'Wave Goodbye'. Sensory signing is introduced from the very first session, giving babies and parents a way to communicate before speech arrives. Every session includes Bonding Time, Expert Tips, and an Exploratory Play Area, and closes with womb sounds to help babies settle.

For very new arrivals, the Hello Baby sub-programme — open to babies from birth to three months — offers a focused early entry. It covers newborn observation skills (learning to read behavioural cues and identify your baby's sensitivities), Crying, Colic and Comfort Workshops, and baby massage drawing on reflexology, yoga, and sensory integration techniques. Activities across the main programme are adapted so babies with physical or sensory differences can take part fully.
