Baby Sensory Wolverhampton West runs at Trysull Village Hall every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. There are two slots on each day — 9:30 to 10:30 or 11:00 to 12:00 — which gives a little flexibility depending on your baby's routine. Classes are open to babies from birth right through to 13 months, and the programme splits into two developmental stages: birth to 6 months, and 7 to 13 months. Each session draws on the Baby Sensory programme developed by Dr Lin Day, whose career in infant development spans more than 40 years, beginning in nursing in 1974 and running through special education, nursery management, and research in biomedical science at the University of Southampton. A typical class weaves together sensory play, tummy time, movement, massage, and music — including original songs Dr Lin Day composed herself, such as 'Say Hello to the Sun' and 'Wave Goodbye'. Sessions follow a baby's natural play-rest-play cycle, and parents are welcome to feed or cuddle at any point. The visual elements are arranged to match the distance at which a young baby can clearly focus, and the instruments used in musical activities have been measured for decibel levels to ensure they are gentle on small ears.

Sensory signing is woven through each session — simple signs that help babies and parents begin to communicate before speech arrives. Every class closes with womb-like sounds to bring a calm, settled ending. For newborns from birth to 3 months, the Hello Baby sub-programme offers a gentler introduction, with three distinct strands: observation of your baby's behavioural cues, a crying, colic and comfort workshop, and baby massage covering techniques including reflexology, yoga, and sensory integration. The social element is built into the programme too: Hello Baby sessions in particular are designed as a space where parents can ask questions and meet others at the same stage.
