Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at Webster Park is run by Sheryl Bewick, who has led sessions in Aberdeen for ten years under the Baby Sensory Aberdeen Central franchise. Two Tuesday slots — 10:30–11:30 and 13:00–14:00 — run term time only, and both are open to babies from birth through to thirteen months. The groups take mixed ages, so a newborn and a baby approaching their first birthday may well be side by side.

Each session follows a structure built around a baby's natural play-rest-play cycle. You will move through creative play, tummy time, massage, and movement, then ease into a Bonding Time segment before picking back up with songs, sensory signing, and an Exploratory Play Area. The musical side draws on original compositions by programme founder Dr Lin Day alongside traditional rhymes, all chosen to support early speech and language. Instruments have been measured for decibel level to keep sound comfortable for young ears, and the sensory display is arranged at the distance a young baby actually focuses at rather than at adult height.

Every session closes by gently mimicking the sounds of the womb — a deliberate wind-down built into the programme design. Parents are welcome to feed or cuddle at any point during the session. Because the class runs on advance booking only, the group composition tends to stay consistent from week to week, which gives parents the opportunity to get to know the same faces over a term.

The programme runs to 40 core lesson plans plus 28 seasonal and special-event plans, so the content shifts regularly. Activities are also adapted for babies with physical or sensory impairments, so no family needs to enquire ahead about inclusion.
