Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at South Harrow Baptist Church runs two consecutive Wednesday morning sessions — 11:00 to 11:50 and 12:10 to 13:00 — both open to mixed ages from birth to 13 months. The venue is part of the wider Baby Sensory South Harrow franchise run by Karolina, who also holds classes at Deane Park Hall in Ruislip and Greenford Community Centre. The Summer Term 2026 is currently open for booking.

Each 50-minute session works through a structured mix of creative play, massage, tummy time, movement, visual development, textures, scents and music — all built around a baby's natural play-rest-play cycle, so there is space to breathe rather than a relentless stream of stimulation. Songs and rhymes, including original music composed by the programme's founder Dr Lin Day, thread through every class alongside sensory signing — simple hand gestures that can help babies begin communicating well before they have words. The sensory area is laid out deliberately: display distances are matched to what young babies can actually focus on, and instruments are checked to ensure they stay at a comfortable volume for small ears.

Newborns from birth to 3 months can join through the Hello Baby sub-programme, which sits alongside the main classes and includes gentle massage techniques, sessions on reading your baby's behavioural cues, and a colic and comfort workshop. Whether your baby is wide-eyed at two weeks or pulling themselves upright at twelve months, you are welcome to feed or cuddle them whenever needed — no one expects a baby to sit neatly through a class. Activities are adapted for babies with physical or sensory differences, and the social element — other parents across Harrow, Ruislip, Northolt and Greenford going through the same stage — tends to matter just as much as the session itself.
