Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at Radley Village Hall runs on Wednesdays throughout term time, with three sessions shaped around different developmental stages: 09:45–10:45 for ages from birth to 13 months, 11:30–12:30 for those aged 0–7 months, and 13:15–14:15 open to the full range from birth to 13 months. The classes are part of Baby Sensory Oxford South — covering south Oxfordshire locations including Wallingford, Didcot, and Radley/Abingdon — and are led by Laura Peacock. Free parking is available at the hall on Gooseacre.

Each session follows a structure built around a baby's natural play-rest-play cycle, so there's a rhythm to the hour rather than a relentless stream of stimulation. Expect a mix of sensory play, tummy time, movement, massage, and exploration of textures and scents, alongside songs and rhymes — including original music composed specifically for the programme — that support early speech and language development. Sensory signing is woven throughout, giving babies and parents a shared language from the earliest weeks. The instruments used in class have been measured for decibel level so they're gentle on small ears, and the visual displays are arranged to match the focal distance of a young baby's eyes.

For newborns aged 0–3 months, the Hello Baby sub-programme offers a quieter starting point: covering how to observe and interpret your baby's behavioural cues, comfort techniques for crying and colic, and gentle touch practices including massage, reflexology, and yoga. It's designed to help parents read their baby's signals and build confidence in those early weeks. Across all sessions, activities are adapted so babies with physical or sensory impairments can fully take part. You're welcome to feed or cuddle your baby at any point during the class.
