Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at Farnworth Methodist Church Hall is run by Louisa, owner of the Baby Sensory West Warrington & Widnes franchise, which covers Great Sankey, Widnes and Newton-le-Willows. Louisa trained in early years education and has worked across nurseries, schools and charities. She came to Baby Sensory as a parent first, attending classes in 2024 with her youngest child before taking on the franchise herself.

On Wednesdays there are two sessions: a mixed-ages class for ages from birth to 13 months at 10:00–11:00, followed by a younger babies class for 0–6 month olds at 11:30–12:30. Both run term time only, so it is worth checking the current term dates before you book. Each session opens with a signature song and moves through a structured lesson plan covering what your baby touches, sees, hears, smells and feels. Activities span creative play, tummy time, movement, textures, scents and music, all chosen to stimulate developing senses. Sensory signing runs through the sessions, giving you and your baby a way to communicate from very early on. At the close, womb sounds are played to help babies settle.

Behind each session is a lesson plan written by Dr Lin Day, the programme's founder, who has over 40 years of experience working with parents and children and is a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. The sensory area is arranged to match the distance at which young babies see most clearly, and instrument volumes are checked so nothing is uncomfortably loud. You are welcome to feed or cuddle your baby at any point — there is no need to keep pace with the group.
