Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at Bromsgrove Rugby Football Club runs every Monday morning, with two sessions to pick from — 10:15 and 11:35 — welcoming babies from birth through to 13 months. The class is run by Louise Walker, who also teaches at other venues across the Bromsgrove, Barnt Green, and Redditch franchise area. Each session follows a detailed lesson plan covering everything your baby touches, sees, hears, smells, and feels. A mix of creative play, tummy time, movement, textures, scent activities, songs, rhymes, and sensory signing forms the bulk of the class — all put together so the activities translate easily to the week at home. The session opens with the same signature song each time and closes by mimicking womb sounds to settle babies gently before you leave. You are welcome to feed or cuddle your baby at any point; no one expects them to sit still.

The programme draws on early developmental research: the brain doubles in volume across the first year of life, driven by sensory learning, and the sharpest period of brain-cell connection happens in the first three months. Because of this, the sensory area is laid out to match the focal distance at which young babies actually see, and instrument volumes are measured to keep sound at a safe level. If your baby is under three months, there is also a separate Hello Baby programme available through the same franchise. It takes a different focus — reading your baby's behavioural cues, understanding the main baby cries, managing colic, and building early touch skills including massage — and runs alongside rather than instead of the main Baby Sensory timetable.
