Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory at St Mary's Church runs on Mondays and Thursdays. Monday sessions are at 10:00–10:50, 11:15–12:05, and 12:30–13:20; Thursday sessions are at 10:00–10:50 and 11:15–12:05. Classes are open to babies from birth to 13 months and carry Gold Accreditation.

Jurgita Rodriguez leads every session. She came to teaching after attending Baby Sensory as a parent herself — her words are: "I am too aware of how precious the early years are and how quickly it is over." She describes each class as taking babies on "a sensory journey with bubbles and bells and lights and puppets" where they "sing, dance, learn baby massage, baby signing and baby whispering."

Behind every session sits a detailed lesson plan covering what a baby touches, sees, hears, smells, and feels. Each class opens with the Baby Sensory signature song, then moves through creative play, tummy time, movement, textures, scents, and music. Instrument decibel levels are measured to protect small ears, and the sensory area is arranged to match the distance at which babies of this age see objects clearly. Sensory signing and songs — a mix of original and traditional rhymes chosen to build early speech and language — run throughout. Sessions close by mimicking the sounds of the womb to help babies settle.

Activities are designed to be repeated at home, so parents leave with practical ideas. Feeding and cuddles mid-session are entirely welcome. Because drop-ins are not accepted, every place is booked in advance.
