Perform Drama, Dance & Singing Classes

Perform at The Henderson Hub runs on Thursday afternoons, with the 4–7s group at 4:00pm–5:00pm and a second class starting at 5:05pm. Hannah is the teacher and Area Partner for this venue, so there is one point of contact who knows the room and the children in it.

Every hour divides into three sections. The 4–7s begin with Move & Feel — dances, rapid-reaction games and yoga-inspired mirroring aimed at building coordination and balance — then move into Listen, Speak & Sing, where specially composed songs, tongue-twisters and raps stretch confidence and communication. The final section, Create & Imagine, brings in character explorations, storytelling and role-playing improvisations to develop concentration and speaking skills. Each week has a different focus within the current term's theme — this summer it is Mermaids & Pirates for the 4–7s — so the content shifts while the structure stays familiar.

Everything threads through Perform's four-strand curriculum: Confidence, Concentration, Communication and Coordination, woven into every activity. The aim is skills that travel — into the playground, into the classroom, into any situation that asks a child to stand up and speak.

Class size is capped at 22 children and there are always two Perform staff present. Perform teachers are usually working actors, hand-picked after an audition covering singing, dance and acting, and they undergo a full DBS check plus written and verbal reference checks before they set foot in a class. The curriculum rolls continuously, so children can join at any point without waiting for a new term. Parents receive a personalised feedback form from the Producer after each block, as well as a weekly email from the Producer describing that week's focus.
