Baby Sensory

Every Monday, Deysbrook Village Centre in West Derby hosts a Baby Sensory class for ages from birth to 13 months up to 13 months. The class is run by Lucy Moran, owner of Baby Sensory Central Liverpool, who spent more than ten years teaching in Early Years settings before launching the franchise — and whose own two children both went through the programme. She describes her approach as grounded in early years development expertise, with a focus on high-quality, engaging, educational classes.

Each session follows a detailed lesson plan that touches all five senses. A signature song opens every class, then things move through creative play, tummy time, movement, massage, visual exploration, textured objects, and carefully chosen scents and sounds. The room is set up with babies' eyesight in mind — objects placed at the distance a young baby can actually focus on — and instrument volumes are measured to ensure nothing is uncomfortably loud. At the end, womb sounds help settle little ones. Original and traditional songs woven throughout are chosen to support early speech and language development; sensory signing activities give you a way to start communicating with your baby from the very earliest weeks.

If your baby is under three months, Lucy also offers the Hello Baby programme at the Central Liverpool franchise. It has its own gentler workshops focused on reading your baby's cues, understanding their cries, colic comfort, and early touch and massage. Parents are welcome to feed or cuddle their baby at any point during a session.
