Baby Sensory

Baby Sensory South Liverpool holds classes at the CADWA Wow Centre on Rocky Lane in Childwall, five days a week. Sessions are grouped by age so you are alongside babies at a similar stage. Monday, for instance, runs a 09:30–10:30 slot for older babies (6–13 months), an 11:10–12:10 slot for younger babies (0–6 months), and a mixed-ages session at 12:45–13:45 for the full 0–13 month range; Tuesday adds a 09:30 and an 11:10 class. Across the week, start times extend to 1pm and 2:30pm. Each session is capped at 20 places, which keeps the room calm enough for babies to actually take everything in. Fees are £56 for a six-week term block, run term-time only.

Every session follows a detailed lesson plan — nothing is dropped in at random. The class moves through creative play, tummy time, movement, textures, scent, and music, all built around what a baby at this age genuinely notices and responds to. The sensory layout is arranged to match the distance at which babies see objects clearly, and instrument decibel levels are measured to ensure they are not too loud. A signature song opens every class; sensory signing runs through the activities to give babies and parents a shared language from early on; and womb sounds close each session to settle little ones before you head home. The curriculum covers six-week blocks and is structured so that no two sessions within a block repeat.

Parents are encouraged to feed, cuddle, or simply hold their baby whenever they need to — there is no expectation to keep going if your baby has other ideas. What happens in class is designed to be taken home too: the massage techniques, the songs, the sensory play can all be repeated in your own time. The programme was developed by Dr Lin Day, whose background spans nursing, special educational needs, and over 40 years working with families; she designed and wrote every lesson plan, training handbook, and course article across the Baby Sensory network.
