About this class

Perform has been running at Holy Trinity Church Centre every Wednesday since April 2003. On Wednesdays you get two back-to-back sessions: the 4–7s class from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, and the 7–12s class from 5:05pm to 6:05pm. Teacher Georgia and Producer Joshua run the room; Area Partner Gemma oversees the Richmond operation. No more than 22 children attend any single session, and two Perform staff members are present throughout.

For the 4–7s, the hour moves through three sections. Move & Feel brings dances, rapid-reaction games and yoga-inspired mirroring exercises that work on coordination, balance and core stability. Listen, Speak & Sing introduces specially composed songs, tongue-twisters and raps. Create & Imagine rounds things off with character explorations, storytelling and role-playing improvisations. This summer the 4–7s are setting sail on the Jammy Dodger in Mermaids & Pirates.

The 7–12s session has its own structure. Acting & Improvising covers drama games, vocal projection, physicality and character communication — the kind of work that builds genuine presence rather than just line-learning. Movement & Dance follows, progressing from energetic group exercises to more technical coordination work. Speech & Singing closes the hour, with groups small enough that most children get solo or featured moments. This summer the 7–12s are working through The Dream, Perform's take on A Midsummer Night's Dream reimagined with footballers, pop stars and celebrities alongside Oberon and Titania.

Every activity across both age groups is built around what Perform calls the 4 Cs: Confidence, Concentration, Communication and Coordination. The curriculum is rolling, so children can join at any point rather than waiting for the start of a new term. The current term runs from 15th April to 15th July, with no session on Wednesday 27th May. Joshua sends parents a weekly email detailing that week's focus, and each child receives a personalised written Feedback Form from Joshua, countersigned by Principal Lucy Quick.

Common questions

Which class days and times are available here?

Both classes run on Wednesdays at Holy Trinity Church Centre: the 4–7s from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, and the 7–12s from 5:05pm to 6:05pm.

Can we try a session before signing up?

Yes — every child can attend one free trial class. You can book online, through Joshua directly, or by phone.

How are classes booked and paid for?

Classes are purchased in blocks of 10 or 20 sessions. You can also renew to the end of term at a slightly higher rate per class, or spread the cost via monthly Direct Debit. A bursary scheme is available, and Perform accepts childcare vouchers. New customers who join the mailing list receive £30 off their first block of 10 classes.

What is the cancellation policy?

Perform does not offer refunds. You can cancel with three days' notice and the resulting credit transfers to your account for use on other Perform products. Missed sessions cannot be added to the end of a block, though a make-up system lets children attend another venue subject to availability. If you restart after a cancellation, a minimum of 10 consecutive classes must be purchased.

My child is right on the age boundary — which class is right?

For the 4–7s, Perform says a mixed age range is part of what makes it work: younger children are stretched by the group, and older children gain from being able to influence activities. For the 7–12s, character and social readiness matter more than exact age. It is worth asking Joshua or the Perform team before booking.

What happens in a typical session?

For 4–7s: Move & Feel (dances, rapid-reaction games, yoga-inspired mirroring); Listen, Speak & Sing (specially composed songs, tongue-twisters and raps); Create & Imagine (character explorations, storytelling, improvisation). For 7–12s: Acting & Improvising (drama games, vocal projection, physicality); Movement & Dance (group and technical exercises); Speech & Singing (articulation, projection and musical reading, with most children getting a solo or featured moment). Every week has a different focus within the term's theme.

Are there performances?

Three times a year, family and friends are invited to half-termly Open Workshops and end-of-term Presentations. Holiday courses also include mini-performances. Perform's summer West End show this year is Mermaids & Pirates, with tickets available separately.
